Our Chieftain Helm is based on Viking and Slavic helmets with a bit of our imagination worked into the design. Pictures show a dark brown leather frame, brass and steel trim and black leather spangens (plates) with a white horsetail plume. Helm is constructed of firm 9 to 11 oz leather with a heavy lace chinstrap at the cheekplates. Frame and plate colors of black, dark brown and chestnut leather available in the combination of your choosing with brass and steel trim and brass riveting. Horse hair available in black, brown or white.

A fiercely beautiful piece based on historical examples of iron helmets from the 8th & 9th centuries. Constructed entirely of firm 9 to 11 oz leather with a heavy lace chinstrap adding the finishing touch. Pictures show dark brown plates and trim against a black frame with optional maille aventail and horsetail plume. Frame and plate colors of black, chestnut, dark tan, or dark brown available in the combination of your choosing with brass or nickel riveting. Horse hair available in black, brown or white. Add extra flair to your favorite helm with a Horsetail Plume. Each tail is securely wrapped and tied onto a D-ring. A heavy leather tab holds the ring firmly in place on your helm. Chicago screws make mounting easy; all you need is a drill and screwdriver.
Available colors of White (shown), Black, or Brown in lengths up to 20 inches with brass hardware and black leather tab. Please specify tail color when ordering.
* Note: Chicago screws have a rivet-head top and are secured from the bottom with a standard flat head screw.

Sweeping down from the steppes of Asia, the Mongol hordes laid waste the fertile fields of Europe. Fierce and ruthless warriors astride swift ponies, their depredations were blamed by clergy of the day on mankind's "sinful" ways. Of course, today we all know that Genghis and the boys were just out for what they considered a fun time!

Perhaps the less wealthy Mongols rode into battle with what protection they
could afford. Fashioned of furs, leather and sinew, materials readily available to
a nomadic race. Whatever the case, it's a fun piece for us, great for RPG's, and a
good way to keep your head warm on chill evenings encamped. Made of sheepskin and
heavy leather bands, hand stitched with heavy-duty lace.

Our more "traditional" version of a Mongol Helm, featuring fur-trimmed brim, lamellar aventail and cheekplates, and an optional horsetail plume. Fashioned completely of heavy leather with nickle or brass rivets. Fur trim is available in natural rabbit (as shown, colors will vary) or black sheepskin. Fur and sheepskin extends to the inside brim of the helm for maximum comfort. Our leather cap consists of 3 panels securely hand-stitched together using leather lacing in an X-stitch pattern. Designed to be comfortable and well-fitting without restricting head movement.
One size fits most. Our lovely model Ragnar happily sports a favorite dark brown cap on his 23-1/2 inch melon.

Classic gold circlets lend that special finishing touch to your garb and persona.
Constructed of a unique, metallic finish leather, our circlets are custom made to
your measurements and are available in three widths. Photo at left shows a 1/2 inch wide circlet.
Also available in 3/4 and 1 inch widths.

Our braided leather headband is crafted of a single piece of supple bridle leather.
The ends of the leather are left whole and the center section is cut into 5 equal strips, which
are woven in a five strand "mystery braid". A lace-tie at the back allows size adjustment for a perfect fit. Available in Black, Chestnut or Dark Brown. Please provide an accurate head measurement along with your choice of leather color when ordering.

Shown in chestnut brown leather with a Lindisfarne Spiral adornment, our headbands are also available in dark tan, dark brown or black leather with black interwoven strap and your choice of nickel silver adornment.
