Shown in Dark Brown 4 oz Suede with black leather riveted straps supporting the rings while forming a decorative pattern at the shoulders and lower edge. The absence of rings across the
midsection allows for wearing a belt or swordbelt comfortably. Sides are grommeted,
making it easy to put on and remove and to give a bit of size adjustability.
Available with your choice of nickel or brass rings and rivets.
Shown in upper left photo with our Spangenhelm and Viking Baldric. For detail shots of armor, click the link to your left.
Two layers of 3 to 4 oz leather are employed throughout all elements of our gambeson to create a garment that's of a fairly substantial thickness yet remains supple and comfortable. We've modified our version slightly from the originals by using an open underarm, short sleeved design, both for ventilation, and unrestricted movement.
Edges along the entire front are encased with trim and feature a double row of decorative stitching. Bottom edges of gambeson and sleeves are hemmed and also decorated with a double row of stitch work. To enhance mobility, sides feature a small split. The edges of the splits are also encased and decorated. All seams and trim are carefully and securely stitched by hand.

Constructed of 8 to 10 oz wax-method courbouilli (brown) or 10 to 12 oz black leather
with choice of brass or nickel rivets and buckles.
Our cuirass is constructed of 5 to 6 oz chrome oil tanned leather. The double layer of supple
leather affords you protection up to 3/16 of an inch thick while remaining lightweight and
comfortable. Suitable for most forms of combat. We recommend SCA fighters check
with their local marshalls regarding armor safety requirements.
The armor pictured is a deep chocolate brown with gilt rivets and rings. Also available
in black.
Traditional brigandine armor features small plates sandwiched between two layers of
leather, thus covering the plates and leaving just the rivet heads showing. The "open-faced"
style of brig can be seen in several period films and
is popularly associated with Scotland. Fox's excellent version of Robin Hood
depicts Prince John's household footmen wearing this style of armor featuring
steel plates.
Our Clan Andrews Brig is constructed of 5 to 6 oz chrome/oil-tanned backing leather
to which 10 to 12 oz leather plates are securely riveted. The edges of each plate
are beveled for a beautiful finished look. Buckles on each side
allow adjustment for a comfortable fit over maille, gambeson, or tunic. Available with buckled
shoulders (shown in brown) or stitched shoulders (shown in black and brown with optional
decorative stitching at neck and armholes).
Our favorite design to date, Armor of the Immortals blends aspects of fantasy and reality.
Segmented chevron bands are riveted together forming a fitted cuirass. A securely attached
scale mantle surmounts all, with fully articulated shoulders adding the finishing touch.
Constructed of the finest
9 to 10 oz bridle leather with all edges dyed for beautiful contrast and a finished look.
Buckles on each side and at the shoulders allow considerable adjustment for a comfortable
fit over maille, gambeson, or tunic.

Scale of the Saxon Shore
More Photos
For centuries, the shores of Britain were landfall to invaders from the sea. Saxons, Frisians, Northmen; all adventurers seeking new lands, glory, and the easy wealth of plunder. In tribute to the raiders and indeed to the brave-hearted defenders who faced them, we've created our Scale of the Saxon Shore. Worthy of a war leader; crafted of excellent 9 to 11 oz leather with an overall average thickness just under a half inch, and adorned with brass and steel studwork at neck and lower edge. Designed for maximum mobility - unrestricted arm movement and optimal length for ease of bending and sitting. Solid leather guards your weapon side with buckles down your shield side. Available in dark brown (shown) and black. Hardware is a mix of brass, steel, and nickel plated brass. Each cuirass is custom sized, with pricing based on "average" sizes.
Viking Age Gambeson
More Photos
Based on scenes depicted in the decorative panels of the Sutton Hoo Helmet, our Viking Age Gambeson is a handsome example of an early Medieval form of armor. Artifacts from both the Sutton Hoo and Vendel finds clearly illustrate warriors wearing armor of this style into combat. The overlapping front affords some extra protection of vital organs and like gambesons of later periods, these were likely made from a number of different materials. Styling also probably varied somewhat and warriors of differing ranks and financial means would likely be found wearing them over tunics or maille.
Gothic / Fantasy Studded Leather Armor
Riveted Scale Armor
The use of scale armor covers a considerable time frame, beginning centuries prior to the
powerful Legions of Ancient Rome and continuing to serve on Medieval battlefields.
Traditionally, scale is constructed of leather, metal and sometimes even horn scales riveted
or sewn to a cloth or leather backing garment. Our Riveted Scale Armor breaks with
this tradition by employing a unique construction technique. We've skipped the backing garment
altogether. Instead, we securely rivet leather scales to each other as the armor is
formed resulting in solid and durable, double layered protection. This riveting method resists
separation and upward curling so your armor keeps looking good as it gets older.

Lamellar Armor
A classic armor design spanning many periods and cultures; as far ranging as
Scandinavia to Japan. Lamellar is constructed of small plates laced together, resulting
in a surprisingly strong form of protection. The overlap of plates inherent
in this design offers essentially two layers of leather. Heavy-duty alum tannned lace
affords superior strength and durability. Buckled closures on both sides provide overlap
for excellent rib protection. We've illustrated both a simple cuirass and a cuirass with
pauldrons at the shoulders and tassets belted at the waist.
